The Strategy highlights the importance of developing education and outreach materials to engage the public in understanding the importance of sound to marine life and the effects of human-induced noise in the marine environment. Similar to the other Strategy priorities, NOAA’s outreach efforts over time have expanded to broader audiences, including leveraging international and industry-specific engagement to raise awareness of ocean noise and support Strategy related activities.

The following are examples of outreach and education materials that support implementation of the Ocean Noise Strategy.

Educational materials related to ocean sound and the impact of noise are also maintained in a resource collection by NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries. The collection includes several of the following resources distributed across the agency:
